A TLC Story in the Making

As if moving across the country isn't enough change, we found out some more news this last week. For the past four months I have visited the doctor on a few different occasions trying to figure out why I was not feeling like my normal self. I have been taking medicine for a potential thyroid imbalance and also looking into other potential medical issues in a effort to find out what was wrong with me.

Last week in finally dawned on me to try a pregnancy test. I have always sensed pregnancy in the past, but this time it just didn't enter my mind. After the shock of the "+" sunk in we decided to take a trip to Fetal Photos while we were in Salt Lake this past Saturday. I thought that I was maybe just a few weeks along. Great was our surprise when the ultrasound began and we saw a very developed baby squirming around on the screen. This baby, who is most likely a boy, (the cord was stuck between his legs), is at least 16 weeks along and will be joining us at the end of July! Yes, that's right, Sammy is only 10 months old. I guess we wanted know what it is like to have twins:)

I never could believe those stories about those women who didn't know they were pregnant and suddenly were delivering a baby in the toilet. I have a bit more understanding now. The upside is that I am already half way through the pregnancy without any major morning sickness etc. Despite the small age gap between Sammy and his soon to be baby brother, we are very excited to have another wonderful baby boy. I guess we'll have to have at least five just to get that baby girl.

Moving Forward . . . Tennessee

Most that read this blog may already know that we found out a few weeks ago that we are moving to Tennessee in a week or so! It is definitely a bitter-sweet move.

The reality of being closer to my family and old friends is exciting. The adventure that comes along with a change of scenery is intriguing. The possibility of finally buying a home is interesting. The beauty of the South is breathtaking. The milder winters and longer spring and fall are inviting. Leaving our dear friends and family behind in Utah is saddening. Leaving a state with beauty and charm all its own is depressing. Leaving a company and employer who has been very good to us is not thrilling.

We feel like it's the right thing to do and are praying for the best. Friends and family are as close as a phone call or a click of the mouse, but obviously nothing can replace being able to walk through someone's front door. Few things last forever, and time will tell how long our life in Tennessee will last. The last 10 years in Utah have been wonderful and we imagine the next 10 in Tennessee will be the same. We love all of you guys that we are leaving behind here. We will visit as often as possible!

Caught Up-Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 was a blast. We had fun decorating the tree together, even though it took about an hour and a new tree stand to get our tree to stand up straight.

Richard with his big gift, the Lego "Crystal Sweeper." Richard literally asked for this present almost every day for the past year. If you want a lesson in the fruits of persistence this is a great example. If any of us were as persistent in asking God for our own blessings there is no doubt he would deliver!

Catch Up 2009-Halloween 2009

Halloween is a semi-big event around our house. The boys love to decorate the house and start asking to do it at least a month before October. They love to dress up, Richard was wearing his home made skeleton costume for tow weeks before the 31st. The kids loved decorating the car for the ward trunk-or-treat.

We have been throwing a Halloween party for the past 8 years. We love having some of our good friends over for food, games, costumes, and a lot of laughs.

Catch Up 2009-Random Events

This is just a collection of a few random events from 2009.
Adam is our little entrepreneur, he likes to set up a drink stand outside our apartment. He has sold Tang and soda pop. People are so nice to stop and buy his drinks, especially the Tang in plastic cups. A few people have given him a dollar or so for a drink even when he is charging .25 cents. When he overheard us talking about wanting to make more money he said, "I can just sell some more drinks and we'll have enough money."

My Nanny and Papaw visited this year, they came all the way from Florida. They are the sweetest people in the world and we were so glad they were able to come a visit with us and see Sammy as a brand new baby.
Dan and the boys had a lot of fun swimming in the club pool at Dan's mom and step-dad's house in St. George. We spent mother's day there and had a great time enjoying St. George and Zion's National Park.

The boys love to read books with mom and dad before bed!
We went to the Provo airfield this summer to see all of the airplanes, the boys loved it.
What do you do with two cans of expired whipped cream form Sam's club? Have a whipped cream fight in the bathroom of course.

We had a great time in Midway on the 24th of July watching the sheep dog, sheep herding competition. We always have a great time with Dan's grandma and grandpa Wood.

A day out visiting random spots in utah. Cabelas was worth a visit to see all the stuffed animals and have a quick lunch.
