Yada, yada, yada

What a week....okay so I know that being a parent has it's ups and downs and there are good days and bad days, good moments, not so good, etc. But I tell ya this week has been a toughie! How is it possible to have the HARDEST time with a child and two hours later you are having one of those "special" moments with that same child? I read once that a toddler's mind is like a jungle. I couldn't agree more. So anyway on to my random thoughts: I have my doubts that Richard will attend nursery again before the year is out. They have posted on the nursery door (bolded): If your child is exhibiting any of the following please do not bring your child to nursery: Coughing, Running nose, vomiting (come on..who brings a VOMITING child to church?), diarrhea, ear infection, flu like symptoms, (and my personal fav) is overly cranky. So of course you don't want a bunch of sick kids in nursery, but whose kid doesn't have a little runny nose in winter? Just one more year of nursery!! yea!!
So I got my hair cut yesterday. I have had 'long' hair for about two years now and have actually really liked it, most of the time. But we are taking are family picture tomorrow and so I thought "I HAVE to get my haircut". I just didn't really think it all the way through like getting your hair cut means your hair will be SHORTER. Yeah I know dumb. Anyway it is a cute cut and I have gotten compliments on it I am just not into the short hair mood ya know? I mean it is Winter. Come on...
Last thought for the evening: Let me set the stage: I am up in the loft trying to sort out our game closet that Richard found and thought he would rearrange and the boys are in the living room. And yes I did have that Mommy thought " they are being awfully quite...". And sure enough I hear this bang, glass breaking sound. I RUN down and see Richard standing by our fallen eight foot Christmas tree. So sad. Richie says, "sorry". Thankfully only two glass balls broke and yes I had just watered it, so the floor was soaking, but it could have been worse. It is now tied to a window for the moment. Like I said Ups and downs....

My Favorite Things

One of my favs right now is Hot Chocolate and Fernwood dark chocolate mint sandwiches.  Dan's invention: one slightly melted dark chocolate mint sandwich (found at www.fernwoodcandy.com) 1 1/2 packs of Swiss Miss and 3/4 cup of HOT water.  I tell ya it is hard to say no.  My other fav at the moment is the SNOW!  Finally!  I say this because I don't have to drive in it.  And it goes well with the hot chocolate.  The boys and I went out today and built a snowman and had a slow motion snowball fight.  It isn't much of a fight when you are helping your opponent make their snowballs.  Adam loved it; Richie not so much.  It was one of the few times I wanted to stay out longer than they did:). And my last fav of the evening, keeping with the winter theme, is our Christmas tree.  We actually got it from the same lot that we bought our very first tree back in 2001.  It is a bit larger, thanks to our tall ceilings.  I love the smell of it.  I am a REAL tree girl.  So there you go two blogs in one sitting, not too shabby, photos of our wonderful life coming soon.......

Late Bloggers

Okay, so I suppose I can post something new more than once a month.  I was under the impression that for a blog to be interesting you had to have picture...and seeing how Dan is a photographer you would think that would be an easy deal.  Well, not so.  The fact of the matter is by the time I get to the computer, usually late at night,  I just want to see what is going on with everyone else. And for whatever reason it takes FOREVER to post pics to our blog.   But I guess I have to give a little since I  take so much...(thanks amy:).  And back to the picture issue, I use Dan's work Mac for all my Internet access and I keep forgetting to download the pics off of my camera and it doesn't help that I have become computer illiterate in the past four years.  So enough excuses...well maybe one more...just kidding.  

Happy Halloween!!!

This year has been so fun getting ready for Halloween and enjoying the fall. I can't explain Adam's love for this holiday. Well, I should say for the decorations for this holiday. We decorated our house in mid-Sept. per Adam's request. I am to say the least DONE with halloween decor. Adam is still holding on to a few key halloween items. Namely two skeletons, a witch and pictures of a witch, a ghost and a pumpkin. Does anyone else's kids love halloween this much?! It has been a lot of fun watching the boys get excited about the holidays. I made Adam's costume this year! It turned out well. He loved being a skeleton. I wish everyone could hear how he says "skeleton" it is really funny. I went with no frills for Richie. He is a wizard or the boy in black. I think he had as much costume as he wanted, half of it was off by the end of the night. We went up to Holladay for trick or treating. We had a great time. We met at Chris's house with Dan's sisters' families. Steph and Rich with Seth and Carson and Seth's friend Ben and Amy and Hugh with Holden. It was chaotic at times but we all made it through the night. Richard LOVED it all. We brought a stroller for him in case he got tired, but he didn't want much to do with it. He is growing up so fast!! Adam took notice of all the homes that put effort into decorating for Halloween. The big pumpkins were a favorite. The weather was perfect. A little chilly to remind you of the season, but not unbearable. The boys got loads of candy and we all made it home safe! Note on the picture of Richie holding a banana over the candy: He did get a banana trick or treating from my good friend Marian and it was the first thing he wanted to eat.

The Halloween Party

We had a great time at the annual Halloween party. Special thanks to Anthony for hosting! It is so fun and funny to see everyone in costume. Dan and I almost won the costume contest, but it was decided we were cheering for ourselves a little too loud :). The Rockers won (Anthony and Paige) The chili and homemade rootbeer were hits again. And a BIG thank you to Karen for watching the boys over night!! It was fun to have a sleepover with friends, even though we slept for maybe an hour before heading back to Provo. Good Times!!

Pumpkins in pieces

We had a great time making "jack-o-laterns" this year. Or Halloween Moonshine as Richard would say. (thank you library book for that new term) The picture of Richie screaming is a fav of mine. A true snapshot of a two year old. I helped the boys with their pumpkins. Richie didn't really take part too much, the pumpkin guts were too "gooey". Adam added all the little holes to his pumpkin and Dan carved the big one. Nice!!

Art City Trolley

After the pumpkin yard, we went over to the Art City Trolley to eat dinner. Daniel and I ate there on one of our first dates and we haven't been back until now (almost seven years later!). So it was neat being there with our two kids. The food was great and the boys liked eating in a trolley, well we told them it was like a train car, so Richie kept looking around for the real 'choo choo'. (It isn't a habit of ours to take pictures inside restuarants, but we didn't want to leave Dan's camera in the car so there you go)

The Pumpkin Yard

On our way back from Spanish Fork Canyon we drove through Springville and came across this "Pumpkin Yard". There was a sign on the door that said "If there isn't anyone out in the yard, just put the money in the mail slot." Small town America alive and well at the pumpkin yard. So we checked it out and found our pumpkins! It was a lot of fun. Adam wanted to buy them all and Richie was only interested in the pumpkin kitten that was hanging around. He is such an animal lover...maybe some day he can have a pet of his own (in his own home of course :).

Spanish Fork Canyon

We wanted to see the fall colors a few weeks ago, so we headed up Spanish Fork Canyon. I think we were a week late, but it was a beautiful day anyway. We had a great time. I was happily surprised we all got back to the car dry! A little muddy, but that's what being outside is all about right? It seems like we are doing more 'outdoorsy' things since moving to Provo. Maybe it is because Dan is not in school, so we have more time together, or spending time in the canyon is FREE. It is a toss up. (You notice it the boys were VERY interested in what was going on around them and NOT in looking up at the camera)

Explorers

While walking on the Provo City Trail we came across this area and the boys wanted to explore. So we walked up and went into this 'cave'. There were broken rocks all over the place, not a sign of stability so we stayed long enough to get a picture. As we continued on our walk we saw 'no trespassing' signs. oops! After that Adam wanted to go off the trail so Dan and I had to keep coming up with excuses why we couldn't "explore" anymore. Yes, we used the "There might be snakes down there" line, I think that made him want to go see the snakes. Some days you just can't win. Adam would say , "But Why?"

Fall Picnic

Last Monday we had a fall picnic. We went to Provo Canyon Park and had a great time! It was REALLY windy, but that was okay. Fall is here in Utah. It seems to go by so fast every year, so we are trying to get out as much as we can and enjoy it because we know the snow will be flying soon! This is our favorite time of year for sure! We hope to go on a 'color cruise' while the leaves are still on the trees. Adam was asking today if he could go out and rake the leaves. I should record that and play it for him when he is fourteen and 'chores' aren't fun anymore.

Daniel Sharp

Daniel graduated from the University of Utah in May. We moved to Provo, Utah soon after graduating to run the Busath's Provo studio. Daniel spends most of his time at work and the rest of the time with Lisa, Adam, and Richard. Dan is originally from Salt Lake and has family in Utah, and Texas, and soon to be New York.
