About Time

It has been almost three months since a post. A lot has taken place during the summer months of 2011. It does seem that the entire year had gone by unusually quickly, especially the past few months. We have spent almost every spare moment since September 1st getting our home ready to sell. It has been less than two years since we arrived in Tennessee, and here we are gearing up to make the long journey back to Utah. I guess we are gluttons for punishment; the last monster move across country just wasn't enough headache the first time around (and that was with just one baby)! Ultimately, we feel like we are doing the right thing for the long-term happiness of the family. But, at the same time, we are sad to leave behind the family and friends that live in the South.

So, with that short preface, onto the summer fun and memories . . .

When you have a backyard that is mostly mud and dirt, you have to buy something that allows the boys to have some fun in the backyard, without getting covered in mud. I bought a $25 inflatable pool from Target, and the boys had a couple fun hours on the back porch.

The boys loves spraying each other with their squirt guns (until they got sprayed in the face).

The water was really cold, but it was refreshing break from the extremely hot, dry summer we had. It didn't rain even once in the month of August.

Our last two years here in Tennessee have been so busy and consumed with babies, and our little fixer-upper home, that we haven't been able to do all of the sightseeing that we would have liked to have done. I guess we will have to just come back on vacation and experience all of the things we just didn't have time to do while we lived here.

Other than not being able to spend nearly enough time with family and friends, we have no regrets about the last two years in this beautiful place. Tennessee truly is a beautiful, amazing part of our planet. We were here to be a part of my grandmother's funeral, the marriage of my brother Mathew, a visit to my grandparents in Florida, the baptism of a nephew, a few baby blessings, a nice trip to Savannah, and some good quality time with my parents, siblings, and friends. We are going to truly miss Tennessee!

The Birthday Boy

Today is Dan's Birthday. It is a day we all look forward too, well everyone but Dan I think :). The kids love making Daddy's day special and always think of fun things to make him. While I was decorating for the day this morning Richie was busy making Dan an 'Angry Bird' card that he wanted to hang on the front door. That wasn't quite enough so he made some birds out of legos and added them around the card for a real 3-D effect. He was so excited to show it to Dan. It just shows me what a great Dad Daniel is. The boys LOVE him and just want to do things with him. It was getting late last night and Adam wanted Dan to go out to do some 'backyard adventure', but Richie had Dan drawing Angry Birds so he couldn't go with Adam. Adam was SO sad and so we struck a compromise, I would finish the bird picture and Adam and Richie would go out with Dad. He is Mr. Popular around here for sure! It is so fun to see Sammy's face light up when he hears the front door open and he knows it is "Daddy"! Truman is following his older brothers in his adoration for their Dad. He loves to play with Daddy anytime. Not only is Dan a fabulous Dad is a wonderfully sweet husband who even lets me win at Card Monopoly every once and a while. He works hard at work and works hard at home making our home a place we all want to be. He is a true friend and I am so grateful he is Mine! Happy Birthday Daniel!!!! We LOVE You!!!!!!
